I took this photo while in Paris this summer. The Paris Metro beats the CTA like it's a redheaded stepson. And its quiet too.

The Chinese New Year Parade took place on a brisk yet sunny day this year on Wentworth between Cermak and 24th street. The Chinese New Year follows a combination of a lunisolar and a solar calender. If you wish to learn more about them go here or here. This year on the Chinese calender is in honor of the Tiger.

This is one of the most popular parades that takes place in Chicago. Parking is slim and the entire route is crowded. You need to arrive early if you wish to get a spot in the front row along the procession. The main strip is packed with onlookers as the floats, marching bands, and dragon dancers go by. You will hear the sounds of fireworks and traditional music as well as the ever present Chinese New Year greeting of Gung hei fat choy, which loosely translates to "congratulations and be prosperous".  After the parade you can peruse the local stores or grab a delicious pork bun.
